Artist's Comments

UPDATE: Hey transfans! Do you like my Transformer humor, but can’t understand why I taint the rest of my gallery with filthy hyooman characters? I’ve opened up a NEW gallery that’s one-hundred percent robot rousings. Transformer jokes will still be uploaded to this gallery as well, so if you like my general jokes then there’s no reason to watch the other site. So if you’d like to follow along Optimus and gang thru transfunny misadventures, head on over to Cappitron!

Cappy’s Random Rant
====================
As far as I know, I have yet to discover my art being ripped off.
IS MY ART NOT WORTHY OF YOUR SHAMELESS TRACING?!
We as artists are proud of our two-dimensional babies. Heck, most of the time, I place a stupid little copyright tag adjacent to my art. Sure, someone trained in the art of CROPPING could remove my futuristic theft deterrent in about six seconds, but what tops the fear of being art ganked is the fact that I want people to see my doodle.

Which brings us to the bug up my butt—the water bug! I mean watermark bug! Hey, if watermarks are your thing, then god bless ya. I find watermarks to be the exact opposite of artistic protection. Many a time I have attempted to fullview a drawing, only to read a superimposed destined docket fodder:
THIS PICTURE IS COPYRIGHT
TO HUGGLEKITTEN45!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT REPRODUCE!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WILL STAB ART THIEVES IN
THE EYES WITH MY MICRON
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Well, congrats. No one would dare steal your art now…seeing as no one can actually VIEW your masterpiece past the forty-eight-font-sized-comic-sans block letters security guarding this mystery drawing. I mean, you’ve worked amazingly hard to produce your creation, right? You’re proud of your NarutoxInuYasha yaoi pic—gonna pass that puppy down to your grandkids, right?
Then show it off!
You may run the risk of being copied, but at least people can fully appreciate the detail of your work in all its intended glory…if you gaze close enough at your art, within every curl of Inuyasha’s chest hair you can sense the soul-crushed disdain of the original manga artist as they realize what fangirls have wrought on their creations!

Cappy’s Rockin’ Rendition

Tutorial by Sandy N. Mahbuttcrack, Esquire
It is a HISTORICAL FACT that I am the LEADING Transformers EXPERT. Well, OF COURSE, BEING SO EFFORTLESSLY TALENTED just comes NATURALLY to me! I DON’T EVEN TRY REALLY! I like to give back to the LITTLE PEOPLE of the fandom. Constantly, I see fanart with ERRONEOUSLY MISUSED facial expressions of Optimus Prime. Such a FICTITIOUS character deserves BETTER! Being a TRUE FAN, I have watched EVERY EPISODE AT LEAST FIVE TIMES in BOTH ENGLISH AND JAPANESE DUBS, and notice such things most LAYMEN would miss. I have thus uploaded a QUINTESSENTIAL tutorial to make sure YOUR art improves. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR MISTAKES BECAUSE TRANSFORMERS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!!

How many of you have read tutorial descriptions/had a critique that mirrored such a condescending tone? It’s wonderful to attack the people you’ve chosen to help. “Most people mess this area up and it ticks me off! Are people really that dumb?!” Yeah, you’re right. If only they had looked at a tutorial and learn—oh. Maybe that’s what they’re doing right now, and as an added bonus they have learned they fail at art. Good job, life coach! Of course, I’m not gonna make you feel better…seeing this is a joke, and really, once you draw his face once, you’ve mastered the gamut of all Prime’s mannerisms.

Hah, I knew I had one last retarded joke in me. The only time I ever noticed emotion from Optimus’ face was when he was on his deathbed and his eyes squinted when Daniel begged him not to die. It was actually effective and I dare any fan to swear they don’t get choked up during that scene. Other than that, Optimus Pantoprime doesn’t use his face to show what he’s thinking. Yes, I just attempted to play-on the word ‘ pantomime’.

About the art. So much work for such a stupid joke…somebody better have laughed! To reproduce Prime’s visage over, and over, and over again, I applied a trick that I learned in high school art class (it pays to pay attention!). If you need to duplicate a character or scenery, first make a photocopy (or use tracing paper and trace over the picture). Next, turn over the paper, and use your pencil to generously shade where the objects are on the other side. Turn paper over again, place the paper in the desired area, and then retrace over the lines of the photocopy or tracing paper. The shading on the other side will be transferred over to the desired area, making a “ picture” perfect rendition. Ink and then impress your friends by telling them you free balled it.

T_O Wow...

I don't like watermarks, but they help just a little...

Like... the size of a grain of sand. I might stop using them. I don't care if others use it if they ask me permission or link it right back to where it is originally.

I remember when you did this very same thing with your Jack character. :D

This one is by far so much better :XD:

It's illegal to throw people off a bridge. Our justice system is unfair.

NyQuil is the best stuff ever invented! Who cares if you don't have a cold? You can use it for sleep deprivation too!:la:

Funny little 'manga fangirl' obsevation. I chuckled. :)

That's why I always make sure to put an invisible watermark on my Naruto/InuYasha yaoi pictures. Heaven forbid I deny my audience the declarations of love I've written in the background using the sparkle brush. Plus, visible watermarks mess with the neato frito layer effects that I use for additional kawaiitude.

But thank you very much for giving back to us little people. I'm certain Prime would approve.

Hey! Stop developing your characters, we have card games to play!
:iconblackhellcat:
I hate waterbug marks!:P

And yeah, I learned about "copying" your own work like that in college, too!^_^

Love your sense of humor and rants, too!

I love :coke: and detest :pepsi:.
:iconnanimbej:
That's why Optimus should have no mouth. If he has a visible mouth, his moods are slightly more noticeable. And that's just no good.

Je ne parle anything.

I'm not lying when I say that in animation, they give the animators character sheets describing how a character acts and looks during a certain emotion. I don't know how well you know the show Ed, Edd n Eddy, but there is a character named Plank which is just a wooden toy. So on his character sheet, they have his happy, sad, angry, confused, etc looks -of course, all of the expressions are exactly the same (blank staring eyes and questionable grin).

This picture just reminded me of that. ^^;

A great comment to me is when someone tells me they enjoy my crazypants writing, sometimes MORE than the art itself. Yay to my awesome logophile art buddy!
